“I’m so ill with it, so Dill with it.”
~ J Dilla ’74 – ’06
James Dewitt Yancey, aka J Dilla, was a prodigy in the 90’s underground hip hop community and in later years proved his relevance and staying power. With more successes than we can list here, we were of course amped to jump on the opportunity to come up with a piece for this event. Even though we’ve done many, adding a large backdrop or focal pieces is always exciting and, of course, we had a blast with this one.
This is a custom designed piece by Lost Angles artist Caleb S. Kirkland that was routed out of 1/2″ oak plywood. Hand sanded and hung with care, it provided the perfect setting for the evenings DJ’s.
